About Harrah's Cherokee Valley River in NC
Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River features a 50,000-square-foot casino floor, making it the second-largest NC casino. It opened in September 2015, becoming the second casino to roll out in North Carolina.
The gaming floor boasts more than 1,000 slot machines and video poker games, as well as many table games such as baccarat, blackjack, craps, and roulette. Caesars also operates a sportsbook inside the casino, allowing bettors to make their wagers through digital self-service kiosks or at the staffed wagering window.
In 2021, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) approved casino renovations that would add space for 300 additional slot machines, eight more table games, a 22-seat casino center bar, a poker room, and a parking deck with 1,500 stalls for guests to use. The EBCI expects the renovations will be completed in 2024, and the poker room is already open.
Away from the betting area, Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River has an arcade area, bowling alley, and a full-service restaurant, called The Landing Café. The food court area also has Earl of Sandwich, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Nathan's Famous/Arthur Treacher's, Panda Express, and Starbucks.

Harrah's Cherokee Valley River and Caesars Sportsbook partnership explained
Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River is operated by Caesars Entertainment, and as part of the partnership, casino patrons are able to place wagers through Caesars Sportsbook NC. This partnership allowed North Carolina residents and casino guests to make sports bets even before online sports betting was legalized in the state.
While the legalization of online sports betting is expected to have a negative impact on the casino’s sports betting revenue, there is a revenue-sharing model in place to help offset the losses.
